SVG map of the Mexico City metro

Mapa SVG del metro de CDMX

I like the STC Metro (I wish it worked properly), so I redesigned its map as an accessibility exercise, using SVG format to make it an image. It has the following features:

  • usability.-
    1. almost exact geographical positioning of stations, lines, places, and areas;
    2. interactive lines and stations that reveal important data (name, logo, transport, etc.);
    3. i keep the official colours, logos and typography;
    4. complete cartographic elements: title, legend, scale and compass rose;
  • technologies.-
    1. built with SVG, CSS and JS, without external dependencies;
    2. semantic structure, with multilingual title;
    3. considering its use with a pointer, keyboard or voice assistant;
    4. keeping it lightweight (323 kib), optimised animations.

I'm continuing to develop this project, and there are some improvements I want to incorporate:

  • Indicate connections with other modes of transport
  • Increase geographical detail
  • Increase interactivity
  • Adjust accessibility
